The Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial team was in Lebanon, Ohio for the dedication of the Maj. General. Joseph Warren MD., a Founding Father of the United States, and an American physician who was one of the most important figures in the Patriot movement in Boston during the early days of the American Revolution, eventually serving as President of the revolutionary Massachusetts Provincial Congress.
The bronze statue was erected and dedicated on June 17th 2025
Warren had been commissioned a major general in the colony's militia shortly before the June 17, 1775 Battle of Bunker Hill. Rather than exercise his rank, Warren chose to participate in the battle as a private soldier, and was killed in combat when British troops stormed the redoubt atop Breed's Hill. He was shot and killed on June 17, 1775.
It should be noted that the Southwest Ohio VFW Memorial team was the only Veterans group that contributed to the making of the statue.
Members present from Memorial Team, Randy Fanin, Larry Rouse, Jeff Lewis, Rick Bens, Al Bens, Mike Wolber. Here are a few pictures from the dedication.
